Who’s Talking about Project W
“Project W is a wonderful idea. Women have the special ability to reach out and find common ground regardless of where they are in the world. This circle of women can foster support and empower every woman in the most personal and human sense. Furthermore, it is an empowering feeling to know that we are strengthening our community and working together to create real change…”
– Lihi Lapid, esteemed Israeli author of Woman of Valor
I am so impressed with the mission of Project W – that seeks to educate, inspire and engage Jewish women, to understand the value of our heritage, tradition and philosophies, and how that can impact our personal and family lives as well as our relationships with friends and professional colleagues.
I believe Project W will make us more powerful, as wives, mothers, friends and professionals.

Professionally I spend a lot of time thinking about the needs of the Jewish community and about transmission through families. I guess it is no surprise then that I have been enthralled with the goals and activities of Project W from its inception. To connect up and inspire Jewish women through a lens of Jewish values and a love of Israel—now that is something to be passed on, from generation to generation.

“I have often wondered why I am not a really happy person when I have so much to be happy about. I had an ‘AHA’ moment at a Project W event about what makes you happy. Hope Ziff asked the panel why they thought Israelis are the happiest people. One of the panelists told a story of a visit to Israel and her teenage son’s luggage got lost. This ruined his visit. In contrast to this, his Israeli peers have bigger things to focus on such as defending their country and experiencing war. This story made me realize that I am like that American teenager. I have never dealt with major life stresses or loss and I am almost 50. I guess I do ‘sweat the daily small stuff.’ Since that ‘AHA moment,’ I have worked on not letting those unimportant daily annoyances get me down.”

“Project W has inspired me to light the Shabbat candles on Friday nights and to try to celebrate Shabbat. I learned through Project W that Israeli soldiers come home for Shabbat. Who knew?? If they send their soldiers home for Shabbat, I can certainly pause and try to bring in Shabbat for my family here in New York.”
